SMI has been providing specialty materials for both Commercial and Residential Construction Industry for more then 30 years. We specialize in Sealing, Glazing, Insulation, Protection, and Sound reduction products. SMI offers sealing materials that are designed to seal, insulate, and reduce sound and thermal transmission.

SMI offers a broad line of compressible foam and adhesive tapes, gaskets, and extruded foam profiles. These materials are ideal sealing solutions for hundreds of construction applications and are available in a wide range of densities, thicknesses, and adhesive formulations. Typical applications include Window/Sill systems, Exterior Wall systems, Metal Walls & Roof Panels, Acoustical Ceilings, Walls, & Floors, and Roofing, Mansard, Soffits, and Flashing.

Glass Manufacturing Products
SMI offers a variety of protective shipping and spacer pad materials to glass manufacturers specializing in flat, bent, tempered, insulated, and mirror glass. Our products are laminates using cork, vinyl, re-bonded rubber, felt, and various grades of foams. These materials come available with a permanent or repositionable adhesive, or a static foam/film. Virtually all thicknesses, width, and length dimensions are available. SMI also offers a full line of protective films and masking products. Setting blocks are produced in any dimensions from firm grades of neoprene, EPDM, vinyl or cork.

Windows Components
SMI offers a full line of AAMA approved glazing tapes. A wide variety of glazing materials are available for applications such as interior glazing, residential and commercial windows, two and four sided structurally glazed curtainwalls, and skylight systems. Cellular glazing tapes provide superior long-term Sealing, Thermal Resistance, Sound Dampening and Aesthetics over conventional solid and gunnable materials. An economical polyethylene foam core is used for residential applications. Higher density PVC foam core is used for commercial applications. Firm polyurethane foams are used in Thermalbond® structural spacer tapes. Special polycarbonate & plexiglass compatible sealants and adhesives are available.

SMI can provide virtually any type of pressure sensitive tape for temporary or permanent component attachment.

Construction Gaskets
Integrity® Construction Gasket is a patented technology that reduces sound and thermal transmission with wood and metal framing. It is applied between wood or metal framing members and sub-flooring, exterior sheathing, or interior gypsum board. The Integrity gasket is a foam strip that easily rolls onto floor joists to eliminate squeaks. When used between studs and drywall, it is proven to reduce airborne noise by up to 90%.

Solid & foam core butyl mastic tapes are available in a variety of shapes and dimensions.

SMI’s Sill-Seal material is a low density closed cellular material designed to seal between the sill plate and masonry or reinforced concrete. This product has excellent resistance to weathering, fungi, and oxidation and is available with an optional pressure sensitive adhesive to speed installation.
